Hugo Inglis is co-founder of High Impact Athletes (HIA), a movement mobilising elite athletes to drive meaningful climate and social action. Through HIA, he has united over 220 world-class athletes from 48 sports who have influenced $1.9 million in donations, which estimates show have mitigated 600,000 tonnes of CO₂e, and improved 435,000 lives through evidence-based giving.
A four-time Olympian and former vice-captain of the New Zealand Black Sticks hockey team, Hugo transformed his concern about sport’s climate cost into tangible solutions. He works quietly behind the scenes supporting athletes who want to use their platform for good, creating pathways for meaningful impact.
Hugo’s commitment to climate action is underpinned by formal training including GRI Certified Sustainability Reporting Standards and Circular Economy certification through edX. He has previously worked in sustainable finance and impact consulting, combining this experience with an MBA from Heriot-Watt Edinburgh Business School.
His work demonstrates how athletes can lead on social causes without compromising their sporting careers, building the infrastructure that makes it possible for athletes to use their platforms for measurable impact.
