Graduated from the Faculty of Education at the University of Tokyo and subsequently entered its graduate school. From 1995 to 1998, he worked as a contract staff member at the Japan Football Association (JFA), engaging in Japan’s bid activities for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. In 1998, he was appointed Research Associate at Nagoya University, promoted to Lecturer in 2002, and served as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences, University of Tsukuba from 2008 to 2024.
He currently serves as a Temporary Member of the Sports Council of the Japan Sports Agency, and as Chair of the Sports Career Support Consortium. He also serves as a member of the General Planning Committee of the Japan Sports Association, a Councillor of the Japan Table Tennis Association, and an Auditor of the Japan Diamond Softball League. In addition, he is active as Chair of the Esports Subcommittee of the Nippon Sport Policy Commission.
