Geert worked for two decades in both private and public sector, managing multi-disciplinary projects. He transitioned from the financial industry into the sports industry and worked since 2012 as AISTS Head of Projects AISTS with 40+ different international sports organisations on projects in the areas of sustainability and education, including the IOC, UEFA, FIFA, FIBA, FIVB, World Rugby, professional sports leagues (US), cities and five (Youth) Olympic Games Organising Committees. He (co-) authored several books, including PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics; a selection of good practices on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
He currently works as Director of Blueshift and is Founding Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sport and Sustainability International (SandSI) where he spearheads the development of Football4Climate, a programme with European football clubs and players to accelerate sustainability in and through football.
Geert is Dutch of origin but living in Lausanne (Switzerland) since 2008 who commutes daily on his bicycle to work. In his free-time he is an active korfball player, preparing for the European Championships with the Swiss team.
