Dr. Madeleine Orr is a lecturer in the Institute of Sport Business at Loughborough University London. She is the founder and co-director of The Sport Ecology Group, an international consortium of academics who drive climate action in the sport sector through research and public education initiatives. Her seminal research in sport ecology examines the impacts of climate change on the sport sector, with a focus on resilience and adaptation in outdoor sports. Madeleine’s community work includes serving as the Chair of Green Sports Day Canada Steering Committee, the Sustainability Lead on the Commonwealth Sport for Development and Peace Youth Network, the creator of the Students&Scholars Deck, and the co-founder of Rock Your Cause Workshops. Her research has appeared in the Globe and Mail, ESPN, BBC, TSN and CBC. Madeleine’s work in the sport sustainability movement has been recognized by the North American Association of Environmental Education (30 Under 30, Class of 2020), Corporate Knights Magazine (30 Under 30 in Sustainability Leadership, class of 2020), and the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2021.
